Home Care Aide (HCA) Job Description
The caregivers provide personal care and household assistance to clients in their own homes. The caregiver works under the supervision of the Care Coordinator and is assigned specific tasks through the home care plan of care. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Follows the home care plan of care developed by the agency. 2. Assists clients with personal care, which may include bathing, shampooing, shaving, toileting, dressing, transfers, and ambulation. 3. Performs household services essential to the client’s safety and care including; laundry, meal preparation, housekeeping, transportation and shopping. 4. Performs only the tasks defined in the home care plan of care for the client and observes, documents and reports any changes in the client’s condition. May assist with medications as indicated in the home care plan of care. 5. Reports to the Caregiver Coordinator or designee any changes in the client’s mental or physical condition as well as changes in the client’s need for care. 6. Follows agency policies and procedures. 7. Respects the rights of clients, families, or client representatives to have different beliefs, opinions, cultures and customs. 8. Maintains a professional attitude in the client’s residence. Qualifications: 1. At least 18 years of age 2. Fluent in English and able to read and write and understand and follow directions for client care. 3. A minimum of 1 year of verifiable caregiving experience. 4. Displays honesty and professionalism with high ethical standards. 5. Possesses maturity, flexibility, good judgment, and creative problem solving skills. 6. Has or is working on a Home Care Aide Certification. 7. Ability to pass a Washington State BCCU background check and fingerprint check. 8. Has a current WA State Drivers' license and reliable transportation.
