Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Description

Responsibilities:
Participate in the planning and coordination of total patient care in conjunction with
the RN and the physician's plan of care, and follow the nursing care plan for each
patient
Accurately report and record the patient's condition and care, including signs and
symptoms which may be indicative of change
Prepare clinical/progress notes and summaries
Assist the patient with the activities of daily living while teaching appropriate selfcare techniques
Provides and maintains a safe environment for the patient
Assist the physician and Registered Nurse in complex nursing situations
Follow universal precautions whenever giving any aspect of patient care
Follow emergency procedures in the event of any catastrophic event, incident, e.g.,
accident, injury or significant change in the patient's condition
Qualifications:
Required Minimum Education:
Graduate from an accredited LPN program.
Required Minimum Licensure/Certification:
Current/active license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia.
Must have a current BLS card from the American Heart Association prior to hire date.
ACLS/PALS may be required in some practice areas.
Required Minimum Experience:
Previous healthcare experience preferred.
Experience in ambulatory, outpatient setting preferred.
In some cases, hospital based experience may substitute.
Specific experience in practice specialty may be required.
Required Minimum Skills:
Must be organized and manage time efficiently to assure patient comfort and satisfaction.
Attentiveness to detail.
Strong interpersonal/human relations skills, interact positively with staff, providers and
patients.
