Caregiver Job Description
What we are looking for:
-We are looking for a caregiver that is strong, reliable, respectful, friendly and can conduct business professionally.
-Preferably someone with experience with adults with developmental disabilities and behaviors OR the ability to actively learn on the job.
-This person needs to be someone who is ready to work and willing to assist clients with day-to-day needs.
-Someone who can conduct themselves appropriately with clients and other staff.
Available shifts:
TBD
Must be able to work weekends and holidays IF that is what your regular schedule is.
Part-time listing - with the opportunity to have Full-time hours when shifts become available or when needed.
Shifts can and will vary from time to time as needed for special events or appointments as needed. Communication is KEY and Admin/management will always communicate any changes and speak with you before making changes.
However, we normally do set scheduling, assigned days every week, so staff can make plans for life outside of work, but also be able to plan life around your job.
This person must be able to:
-come to work regularly & on time
-come ready to work and engage with clients
-assist with bathing and hygiene
-assisting with medications
-documentation of medications and observations
-daily notes and behavioral documentation tracking
-simple cooking and making meals/snacks
-taking clients out in the community on outings, to appointments or to business’s as needed
-driving company van and following protocols
-thoroughly cleaning the facility
-complete client laundry as scheduled
-Proper and consistent cleaning of the home
-Engage positively with clients
-Willing to learn, work and strategize as a team
-Must be able to work with others and provide a positive environment for the clients in care.
-You must be able to maintain a professional “teacher” type of relationship with all individuals in your care
-You must be able to find that fine line of being kind and caring but also firm when needed
-You must be able to maintain behaviors and situations that come up without escalation or injury to clients or yourself
-You must be able to NOT get overly comfortable or personal with any of the clients for their safety and yours.
-You must be consistent, show up for work and be on time
Legally must have or obtain upon hire:
-Valid driver's license
-Authorization to work in America
-Clear criminal record/livescan FBI/DOJ
-Reliable transportation to and from work
-Physical and TB dated within last 12 months
Certifications you will need:
-CPR/first aid certification
-CPI certification
-DSP YEAR 1 within first year of employment
-DSP YEAR 2 within second year of employment
About the home and individuals, we serve:
Safe Haven is a licensed care group home setting for 4 adult females with mental and behavioral disabilities. We currently have 2 clients. Our ladies are in their 20’s and 30’s and have developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges. These challenges can include; lashing out, hitting, kicking, screaming, spitting, self-harm, talking aggressively, urinating in bed, stealing, lying, trying to flee, outbursts of emotions, public displays and tantrums.
Our ladies are high functioning, each of them in different ways. They are very smart clients and can manipulate any situation. You must be able to handle the mental aspect of working with clients at this disability level. the job is not hard and does not require any certifications/schooling to start. However, you MUST be able to work well with other staff and be appropriate and kind to clients and complete daily shift tasks. No exceptions.
We are located in the city of Adelanto, off of HWY 395, between Cactus ST. and Bellflower ST.
