****SUBMIT RESUME TO hr@tlc4blind.org TO APPLY**** Under the direct supervision of the House Service Coordinator (HSC) and QIDP, the Residential Aide shall be responsible for providing direct supervision of consumers, participating in and executing activities of daily living and active treatment in the houses, engaging consumers by using various levels of prompting techniques, encouraging consumer participation in all aspects of programming, supervising consumers ongoing throughout the shift, and participating in pool/Jacuzzi activities (as assigned), various other duties as listed below. *Please be advised that you may be reassigned, during your shift, to another house or to accompany a client to the hospital. Job Responsibilities: • Provide training, teaching, and direct supervision of consumers. o Assist and positively interact with consumers in a home setting with training/acquiring skills in the following areas: grooming/hygiene and self-care including feeding and toilet training; fine motor skills; gross motor skills; sensory exploration including tactile, auditory, oral-motor. o Learn and implement all consumers’ behavioral intervention plans. o Learn the diets for the house and each consumers’ special dietary needs using cooking equipment and preparing meals following the dietician’s guidelines for proper food safety protocols. o Assist with behavioral problems as they arise with any consumer as appropriate. o Complete delegated nursing tasks in accordance with nursing protocols, specified training, and regulatory requirements; to include: medication passing, g-tube feeding and catheters’ maintenance. o Learn and assist in reinforcing consumers’ orientation and mobility training. o Assist consumers when needed, even if they are not your assigned consumer. o Know duties and assignments for the shift’s activities. • Ensure all required documentation and Incident Reports are completed within TLC protocols and regulatory guidelines. • Assist with implementing meaningful activities/projects for consumers. o Ensure activities are age-appropriate. o Provide hand over hand assistance, adaptive equipment, verbal prompts and redirection to ensure participation. o Encourage consumer participation in all aspects of active treatment. o Engage and interact with consumers in their Activities of Daily Living throughout each shift. o Engage consumers by using appropriate levels of prompting techniques. o Accompany consumers on community outings/activities (which may involve driving an agency vehicle). Driving an agency vehicle requires an agency driving test, a driver’s license, and an acceptable driving record. • Ensure the lines of communication are continuous. o Make observations and relay information and concerns to the HSC, QIDP, and/or Residential Director within TLC protocols and regulatory guidelines. o Facilitate positive interactions with all residential staff, HSC’s, and parents. o Address program/staffing concerns with the QIDP, in a professional manner. • Promote teamwork and problem solving strategies amongst co-workers. • Assist in maintaining a safe, clean and well-organized home. • Adhere to the pool schedule to enable consumers to get in pool/Jacuzzi. o Assist consumers with safely dressing and undressing into bathing suits. o Ensure consumer safety in and out of the water. o Adhere to water safety protocols. o Participate and engage the consumers in water activities as scheduled. o Be prepared to enter the pool as scheduled. (Swimsuit, lotion, hairbrush) • Arrive to work on time and prepared to work. • Complete other duties and/or projects as requested by the HSC or QIDP. • Adhere to TLC Dress Code. • Attend in-service trainings and staff meetings as scheduled.
