Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Job Description
Hillview Convalescent Hospital is a 52 bed Independently Owned and Operated Skilled Nursing Facility. We are hiring for part-time or full-time positions for either PM shifts or PM/NOC shifts. We are looking for a nurse who can aim to provide comfort and support to our residents while helping individuals regain or maintain their level of functioning and quality of life. Qualifications Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse in California. Must have current CPR/BLS certification. Able to demonstrate a knowledge of and ability to apply basic principles of nursing care. Ability to maintain a good working relationship and open communication with personnel, residents, and families. Possess a genuine interest and ability to work with geriatric and dependent adults. Able to work under supervision and supervise a team of 3-7 staff members. Has initiative, dependability and skill in recognition and identification of symptoms and treatment responses. Able to lift, push and move at least 10 lbs. independently. Has good mental and physical health Self-motivated and resourceful Preferred but not necessary Experience in a skilled nursing facility (new grads are still welcome!) Ability to communicate in language other than English (Spanish, Vietnamese, and Cantonese all welcome) IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certification preferred but not necessary Basic knowledge of State and Federal regulations Responsibilities Supervise caregiver and ancillary staff. Perform daily assessment of total needs of resident. Develop nursing care plans to meet resident needs including recognition of emotional, social and cultural factors. Implementation of restorative nursing practice. Prepare, administer, and chart medications and treatments according to the physician’s order and schedule as directed by facility policy and procedure. Interpret and execute physician orders including med pass and treatments such as wound and ostomy care, breathing treatments, post-op care, urinary catheter insertion and care as well as feeding tube care. Maintain medication files and requisitions for all medications and refills. Maintain responsibility for accurate observations, evaluations and reporting of the resident’s symptoms, reactions and progress to the Physician, Director of Nursing, Administrator, and others participating in care and treatment of the residents. Prepare residents for, and assist with, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, treatments, and examinations. Maintain responsibility for total resident care and assist with direct care as needed Assist in development or organizational plans as they relate to nursing, including but not limited to the following: work assignments, policies and review of nursing procedures. Maintain the integrity of all residents’ rights including but not limited to: rights to dignity, privacy and safe care.' Qualifications: Current State Nursing License. Proof of licensure required upon hire.
