From the very first day, my mother was admitted at Rivergate, the entire staff, including the ladies at the check-in station and all the caregivers and management have treated my mother (and us) like family. Although she doesn’t eat much, Mom daily talks about how good the food is and how she likes ALL the care givers. We have absolutely zero complaints and recommend Rivergate to everyone needing long-term care.
Short, limited visit. All the staff I encountered were friendly. The lobby, inside gathering/visiting area, and outdoor patio seemed clean and well-maintained. Spent most of our time on the patio, which had several tables and comfortable chairs and many lovely plants and pretty landscaping. Seems like our loved one is in a quality care facility.
The people who work there seem very dedicated and competent. I am a clinical social worker myself. My brother was admitted to sub acute rehab this week after a stroke. I liked that the short term rehab patients are on a separate hall or ‘wing” than the longer term care patients so they can socialize and connect to each other for encouragement. It is not the newest building and may not have the bright shiny facade of other facilities we visited in the area, but the treatment staff at Riverside Health Center have been there a long time and are connected to each other and to the community resources. They are kind, warm, and personable. I am not deceived by marketing. I prefer clinical competence over physical appearance. If I find this changes while he’s there I will follow up with another review. But for now, we are confident this placement was the best decision for his recovery.
I rarely leave reviews, but I feel it's important to share our experience with this nursing home. My family placed our loved one here hoping for compassionate and attentive care. Unfortunately, we were deeply disappointed. Staffing seemed consistently short, and as a result, basic needs like timely medication, hygiene assistance, and regular meals were often delayed. Communication with the nursing staff was poor—getting updates on medical conditions or care plans was frustrating and inconsistent. We often felt like we had to chase down answers. Cleanliness was another major concern. On several occasions, we noticed unpleasant odors in the hallways and saw trash left in patient areas. It did not feel like a safe or healthy environment for elderly residents. Most heartbreaking was the lack of personal engagement and warmth. The atmosphere was cold and clinical, and our loved one frequently expressed feelings of loneliness and neglect. I understand how difficult the job can be, but families trust these facilities with the well-being of people they love. Sadly, that trust was broken in our case.
Everyone has been very kind and nice. It’s clean, doesn’t have a bad odor. They have been and continue to be kind to my mom while she is still having to be there for rehab.
