Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Location: 2013 Midwest Rd. Oak Brook, IL 60523.
Hours: 3pm-11pm or 11pm-7am

Qualifications:
• Completed State recognized certified nursing assistant training course or currently enrolled in one.
• Pass the state competency examination.
• If certified, with good standing with the Nurse Aide Registry for the State of Illinois.
• Good physical health and ability to perform duties of the job.
• Ability to observe changes in residents’ condition.
• Emotional stable to deal with death and dying.
• Knowledge of the aging process and the desire to work with the elderly.
• Have patience, tact and courtesy in dealing with others.
Responsibilities:
• Follows daily assignment per charge nurse.
• Keep residents dry and clean, appropriately dressed and groomed.
• Performs personal care such as baths, showers, oral hygiene, skin care and hair care on assigned residents.
• Monitors and reports accurate intake/output of fluids and nourishment on assigned residents.
• Assists residents with bowel and bladder training.
• Assists in serving, feeding and monitoring meals. Closely supervises residents with swallowing problems.
• Check resident’s water pitcher ensuring water is available to them at all shifts and at bedtime unless contraindicated.
• Uses safety measures for residents and self while transferring, repositioning and performing other duties by using good body mechanics, bed positioning and transferring techniques.
• Assists with transporting residents to meals, activities, therapy programs and other activities of daily living as needed.
• Encourages, assists and/or performs activities of daily living for the residents as needed.
• Answers call lights in a timely manner regardless of assignment to ensure safety and proper service to residents.
• Follow restorative/rehab orders designed for individual residents.
• Keeps call lights, tables and other appropriate items with residents’ reach.
• Maintain clean and safe environment. Helps to identify hazards and unsafe conditions for residents and reports findings to the appropriate person.
• Complete required documentation of resident care.
• Observes and immediately reports unusual symptoms, changes in condition and injuries to the charge nurse including incidents that may result in injury.
• Respect resident’s rights.
• Provide for resident’s physical, psychological, social, safety and other needs. Actively works towards the promotion of improved Quality of Life.
• Perform nursing care according to the established facility standard.
• Participate in resident care planning. Communicate with other department information to help meet the needs of the resident.
• Establish rapport/good communication with resident and residents’ families.
• Adhere to posted schedules and follow personnel policies.
• Punch in and out with time card.
• Wear proper uniform and identification.
• Promote teamwork within and outside of department.
• Knowledge in the use of equipment needed for resident care.
• Participate in in-service trainings and mandatory meeting.
• Perform other duties from time to time as directed by the Supervisor and/or Charge Nurse, that maybe necessary to accomplish the proper and standard function of the facility.
• Comply with State, Federal, Local and JCAHO standards.
• Will only access the minimum PHI to accomplish the job.
