Caregiver Job Description

Horizons Home Care of Holiday Healthcare is a family-owned company on the North Side of Evansville. We are currently looking for kind and caring individuals to provide in-home care to clients in the area. No certifications or experience necessary! What we offer: Starting pay of $12-$13.00/hr. Flexible work schedule! Work close to home - We will match you with clients close to where you live. No experience necessary - We provide training. Mileage reimbursement. Weekly pay incentives. We currently provide care to individuals living in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Pike, and Gibson county. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years old to apply. Must have sympathetic attitude and caring demeanor. Must have ability to carry out directions. Must maintain strict confidentiality of patient information. Must be able to travel to patient’s place of residency. Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance. Competency Requirement: The PCA must complete a competency examination with a passing score of 80% or higher. The agency evaluation includes, but is not limited to: Communication skills. Observation, reporting, and documentation of a client’s status and the care or service furnished. Basic body functions and changes. Basic infection control procedures and instruction on universal precautions. Personal care. Maintenance of a clean, health, and safe environment. Recognizing emergencies and knowledge of emergency procedures. Safe transfer techniques and ambulation. Normal range of motion and positioning. Nutrition. Assisting with self-medications. Physical, emotional, and developmental needs of clients. Physical Requirements: Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to lift (up to 50lbs) and transfer patients, carry supplies, and read normal typewritten print. Must have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and have manual dexterity with normal range of motion of all extremities. May be requested to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime. Must be able to work alone without usual support systems immediately available in acute care settings. Must have the ability to deal with abrupt schedule changes and to maintain objectivity in coping with the stress of working with acute, chronic and terminally ill patients. Responsibilities: Provide quality and individualized services to clients in their home. Provide companionship and recreational activities. Assist in the following household duties: cleaning, laundry, shopping, meal planning and preparation. Assist in letter writing and reading. Assist in bathing, dressing, grooming, ambulation, and transfers. Assist in mouth care, toileting, assisting with medication and medication reminders. Will observe and report changes in client’s condition. Complies with the Homecare Agency dress code. Projects a professional attitude toward self, patients, and other staff members, and follows department public relation policies regarding outside speaking and professional affiliations, clearing all such requests through Homecare Agency.
