Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Description
Job Summary It is the responsibility of the charge nurse of this facility to see that the resident's overall plan of care is carried out during your shift and to supervise personnel assigned to the area. Responsibilities and Duties • Supervise all nursing assistant in performing their duties and participate, if necessary, by checking their work closely to ensure assignments have been completed. • Conduct meaningful rounds of all the resident utilizing their health care plans. • Check charts for new orders, medication for your shift and administer medications per doctor's orders. • Avail yourself, within reason, to assist the CNA's to improve their performance. • Participate in staff meetings. • Document all care provided. • Make rounds with the physician and record pertinent notes in the resident's charts. • Make sure progress notes are written, recertification's signed, and doctor's orders are clarified and signed. • Personally receive and/or place all calls to physicians. • Order all new medications. • The Charge nurse is responsible for the well being and nursing care of all residents assigned to the unit during the assigned tour of duty. Qualifications and Skills • Must have a current state license to practice as a nurse in the state of Georgia. • Must be willing and able to assume charge of personnel assigned to his/her area. • Must be able to work well with others. • Use of initiative and good judgement.
