Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
A paraprofessional provides hands-on services in the home for clients under the direct supervision of a qualified designated supervisor. Care Technician services may include personal care tasks, control of the client’s activities, home management, meal prep, companionship, or respite breaks for family or caregivers. Organizational Relationship: reports directly to the Service Supervisor Risk of Occupational Exposure to Blood-Borne Pathogens: A: High exposure Qualifications: Prefer high school graduate or equivalent. Prefer one year experience in providing care/services to clients in a home care setting. Must have a criminal background check and other required checks: Nurse Aide Registry and CPR certification. Must be able to read, write in English, and follow instructions. Responsibilities: The duties consist of a combination of activities, which include, but are not limited to: Personal care tasks, including assisting with mobility, bathing/showering, toileting, dressing, eating, and continent needs. Help with prescribed exercises that a health care practitioner has taught the client and In-Home Care Technician Provide or assist with ADLs. Perform IADLs essential to the client’s care at home and record and report changes in the client’s condition, family situation, or needs to the health care practitioner. Assist client with self-administration of medications ordered by a health care practitioner or other person authorized by state law to prescribe. Supervised client’s activities. Home management tasks. Other tasks are assigned within the scope of their role. Follow the Plan of Care as written and advise the Service supervisor if you cannot. Documents each visit by Agency policy. Communicates ongoing with the Service Supervisor. Immediately report emergencies by phone to the supervisor or office. Keeps an accurate time and mileage report. Follow assignments and regulations. Uses policy manual as guideline for service. Works within the organizational channel of authority. Wear appropriate clothing and an ID badge when at work. Participate in the Agency QA Committee. Notifying the Agency of absences due to illness, emergency leave, regular vacation periods, or applicable meetings will affect the agreed service with the Agency. Must be able to read 12-point or more significant type. Must be able to hear and speak in English. Must be able to stoop and bend. Must be able to travel to prospective clients’ residences. Must be able to carry bundles weighing up to 10 pounds upstairs.
