Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description

Hours of Work: This position is every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday), PM Shift, 2:00pm - 10:30p. Pay, Differentials, and Benefits: • Starting wage is $19.64/hr. Additional shifts may be available if you are interested. • There is an excellent shift differential of $1.50/hr from 5 pm - 10 pm and $2.00/hr from 10 pm - 11 pm plus a weekend differential of $2.50/hr. • Time and one-half pay on the following holidays: July 4th, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Nurse Technician - Essential Job Duties: • As part of nursing care team, assists in formulating and carrying out a plan of care that meets the residents' holistic needs in accordance with nursing home policies and procedures. • Under supervision of a registered nurse, provides direct nursing care including administering medications and treatments. • Provides for the safety and wellbeing of the resident in accordance with nursing home policies and procedures. • Serves as liaison between resident and RN in charge of resident’s care. • Communicates appropriate resident information to RN. • Carries out physician's orders under the direction of a RN. Nurse Technician – Experience & Requirements: • Requires nursing student who either is currently enrolled and actively taking nursing courses (no break of more than one year between nursing courses) in a nursing program leading to Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse and has completed a pharmacology/medication administration course, or who has failed the licensure exam and is awaiting a retake of the exam, pursuant to the requirements of the Wisconsin Administrative Code and Bureau of Quality Assurance BQA-01-021. • Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant and on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry • Must successfully pass a background check as required by the Wisconsin Caregiver Law. • Nursing student must maintain passing grades in all nursing classes. After graduation from an accredited nursing program, the graduate nurse must pass the state licensure exam within six months to continue in the nurse technician role. Administrative Code Reference: The Nurse Technician always functions under the direct supervision of the registered nurse. Under Section N 6.02(6), Wisconsin Administrative Code, direct supervision means immediate availability to continually coordinate, direct and inspect at first hand the practice of another. This has been interpreted by the Board to require that the supervising RN must be on-site with the Nurse Technician.
